Remember the good old days when the state of “Plugger’s groin” dominated not only the sports pages but the front pages? In September 1996 the Sydney Swans were due to play Essendon at the SCG to decide which would go through to the AFL Grand Final. Tony “Plugger” Lockett had missed the previous victory against Hawthorn because of a torn groin.
