The Star: Murkomen 'sings' away as Uhuru gives Sh100m to artists
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has gone all out to sing after President Uhuru Kenyatta directed Sh100m for artists during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. On Monday, Uhuru directed that the Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Heritage avail the funds help artists deal with effects of coronavirus.

Health Just going for a drive not OK: NSW Police The NSW police commissioner says that if you don't need to do something, you should stay home, as officers continue to enforce social distancing requirements.
NSW residents can’t just go for a drive while everyone is meant to be social distancing, with the state’s top police officer saying it’s not a reasonable excuse for being out and about. Commissioner Mick Fuller says people can’t go for a recreational drive even if they don’t get out of their vehicle.

Cardinal Pell’s accuser issues rallying cry for abuse survivors
The Australian man at the centre of the failed child sex abuse case against George Pell has said he respects the High Court’s decision to overturn the cardinal’s conviction, while issuing a rallying cry to all survivors. In December 2018, a jury convicted Pell, 78, for sexually assaulting two choirboys at a Melbourne Cathedral in 1996.

How a small Georgia city became one of the worst coronavirus hotspots in the country
It is now believed to have spread at two funerals in February and early March, one of which was attended by a coronavirus victim from outside the city. Georgia's first death was recorded on March 12. The 67-year-old victim had visited Albany in February to attend the funeral of a man it was believed died of natural causes.

Cardinal George Pell is on his way to Sydney a day after he was freed from jail following the High Court's decision to quash his convictions for child-sex offences. The 78-year-old spent his first night of freedom at the Carmelite Monastery in Kew, which survivor advocates decorated in ribbons and childrens' toys overnight.

Covid-19 outbreak prompts wedding ban in New Caledonia
Customary chiefs on the New Caledonian island of Lifou have annulled all weddings planned for this year because of the Covid-19 outbreak. The chiefs of the districts of Lossi, Wetr and Gaica decided the ban also applied to people originally from Lifou who wanted to get married in Noumea.
