A bent for music shaped Grace Kliewer's life. Those gifts brought her an education at a prestigious college and a life impacting the paths of countless Glendale students. Kliewer died Aug. 21 in Glendale at age 91. Born Feb. 4, 1923, she grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, the only child of parents who would struggle through the Great Depression.

NDRRMC to go on highest alert during Papal visit
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council will be on highest alert during the visit of Pope Francis to the country this coming January.
