First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, founded in 1871, had its historic 1888 building damaged when a large tree fell on it this morning as a result of high winds. The tree fell on a chapel near the front of the building at the corner of Third Avenue North and 21 st Street. It damaged parts of the bell tower.
