VE Day. Victory in Europe Day. Many of us won’t remember it, but Monday marks 72 years since one of the most momentous 24 hours in this nation’s history. The people of Britain and the North East took to the streets to celebrate - big-style. A formidable and seemingly unbeatable enemy had finally been vanquished after six years of bitter global war.
