|
My father was born in what was back then the northeast port city of Songjin, located in North Korea's North Hamgyong Province. Today, it is known by the less mellifluous tag of Kimchaek, so named during the middle of the Korean War after the eponymous North Korean anti-Japanese partisan, general, and political ally of Kim Il-sung.
