This column first appeared in the Victoria Daily Times on Jan. 18, 1941. A new book came to my desk last week, written by a German novelist whose books were burned by the Nazis in 1934. This story, entitled The Life of My Mother, was begun in Czechoslovakia and finished last summer in New York.
