After 35 years, PM Ranil Wickramasinghe (RW) apologized for the burning of the Jaffna Library during the rule of the UNP in 1981. Thus was the UNP sent into the sin bin? It had maintained ‘Omerta’ about its guilt strewn path. They were no referees, self appointed or not before so no red cards had followed for repeated offences either.
