A sad farewell to those whose lives enriched our own Northern Ireland lost several well-known figures over the past year. Noel McAdam remembers some of the inspirational people we said goodbye to in 2016.

Died November 1. Though arguably less successful than brother Brian, singer, musician and songwriter Bap Kennedy was perhaps the more feted of the pair. As lead vocalist with Belfast-band Energy Orchard, he won plaudits worldwide and the personal tutelage of American rock and roots star Steve Earle.
