House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez yesterday warned the Catholic Church not to interfere in the passage of the death penalty bill lest its proponents would leave and look for another religious group. Alvarez stressed that proponents of the death penalty bill should not be afraid of the Catholic Church’s threat of excommunication.
