Let me explain. Thirty-six years ago, in 1980, David R. Mains, the Christian radio host of “The Chapel of the Air,” wrote a tiny booklet entitled, “When God Gets Angry with a Nation.” “I fear, like ancient Israel, we may not realize in all our talk about possible enemies that the worst of all powers to be pitted against us is the Lord!” said Mains.
