IN the upper reaches of Ra Province, villagers gather next to a church. The area is bustling with women walking about carrying plates filled with bread, Fijian pudding and tarts and distributing it to menfolk who appear beat. It's almost 9am, but the sweat on their brow and soil-stained clothing and footwear reveals the remnants of hard labour.
