With the laying of a wreath and the playing of "Taps," Gadsden firefighters took time this morning to mark four decades since their department's deadliest day. On the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1976, a gasoline tanker stopped at a Martin service station off U.S. 278 in East Gadsden.
