chairman Norman Smurthwaite says he doesn't expect Tom Pope to return to Vale Park this season. The Valiants are looking for a goalscorer and could bring in a striker within the next week. The chairman says he has kept in touch with Pope since the 30 year old left the Valiants for Bury a year ago.
