ISTAMBUL – Turkey’s state and society are in upheaval on Wednesday in the aftermath of last week’s botched military coup due to the scale of the government’s crackdown. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s President, has unleashed a purge across the country resulting in the dismissal of 50,000 workers and the arrest of 8,000 people.
