Like many people around the world, I was watching the news when I first saw the image of Alan Kurdi, the 3-year-old Syrian boy who drowned in Turkey waters earlier this year. As a mum, this image left me terribly shattered. As an African migrant living in the U.K., it brought up something else for me, too.
