The boys are selected from among the sons of Her Majesty's friends and Household. Augustus's mother, former model and sculptress Candida Bond, has spoken publicly about her son's health problems when he was a toddler. She said he was diagnosed as suffering from a liver disease and the family were told he might need to have a transplant.
