|
On Wednesday, Pope Francis will confer sainthood on Fray Junipero Serra, the founding father of California's 21 missions, singling out Serra's "missionary zeal, his witness of holiness and role as a founding father of the United States." This may be a cause for celebration at Washington's Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
