On Jan 23, as Karen prepared to merge into traffic, two trucks pulled up on either side, stopping her. Armed men forced their way into her pick-up and took off, with her in it. They drove her to the family home, where Karen lived during the week while Ms Rodríguez, who also worked as a nanny in Texas, was away.
