To capture a Nazi U-Boat intact was an enormous accomplishment. However, when the top brass in Washington learned of it, they were furious. It was believed that after the Nazis learned of the capture of the submarine (and its communiations equipment), they would promptly change their codes, which the Allies had already cracked.
