| Australia sets modest carbon emissions reduction target |

By 2030 Australia will cut its carbon emissions by 26 to 28 per cent from 2005 levels, Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters in Canberra. “This is fairly and squarely in the middle of comparable economies,” Abbott said. He conceded it is not as high as Europe but said it was better than Japan, Korea and China.
