In February, the Bishop Timon-St. Jude graduate was the 35th recipient of the Duffett Award, presented annually to an individual for contributions to amateur hockey.
A Buffalo native and resident, Panek was an assistant coach at his Bishop Timon-St. Jude at the time of his death.
