RH: It’s interesting that Vesta’s performativity is instinctually literary! The novel is a very self-referential book. OM: I see what you mean. It’s a book that writes about writing and the creative process. It’s a character going through something—i.e., investigating a murder—the same way someone might go through writing a murder mystery novel.
