In between, teams affiliated with the California Angels won two PCL championships in the '70s. But those bookend seasons are more memorable, because of all the misadventures on and off the field. The '70 Padres didn't belong in the PCL. "What a team that was," said Jerry Nyman, a pitcher from Logan.
