It wasn’t yet legal, but their wedding was a public show of commitment to each other. When Brad Berg and Brian Rolfes held a commitment ceremony in 1998, Canada was seven years away from full marriage equality. The pair had met just after law school, working as clerks at the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.
