On the Saturday before the marriage equality referendum, Ger Philpott was canvassing at the traffic junctions in Fairview. A man cycled up to him and asked him what the YES campaign was about. “I told him and he angrily replied that it was just so I could marry my sister and called me a child-abusing abomination,” says Ger, incredulously.
