For days following the death of George Floyd, an African-American man who was killed on May 25, 2020, after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck, thousands of people in cities across the United States took to the streets to protest. Many demonstrations were peaceful, but reports of looting, vandalism, and violence were also prevalent.
