MONTREAL -- Bill Draper, an assured and passionate behind-the-scenes presence who for nearly four decades helped shape and steer Montreal’s flagship English news broadcast, has died. Draper died of cancer April 19 at a hospital in Saint-Jerome, northwest of Montreal. He was 83. Draper showed a precociousness when it came to the craft of journalism.
