From my earliest childhood all the way through high school, I “did” religion pretty well. I went through the motions assuming that I was accumulating some sort of credit balance with God and might be deserving of a better-than-even shot at Heaven. Trouble was I had no idea who God was, or even whether I liked Him or that He liked me.
