The front page of the May 8, 1945 edition of the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette declared how the community reacted to Victory in Europe Day - the official ending of World War II in Europe. While the war wouldn't end for many more months as the conflict continued in the Pacific, locally V-E day was a quiet affair.
