In 1975 Zimbabwe's two liberation movements, Zapu and Zanu came together and formed a military alliance allowing their guerrillas to fight the Rhodesians under the name Zimbabwe People's Army(Zipa). It was the liberation committee of the Organisation of African Unity(OAU) that put pressure on the two guerrilla movements to fight as a unified army.
