T he chief justice of South Africa is a man named Mogoeng Mogoeng, whose name reminds me of Jimmy Durante. “New York, New York,” Durante used to say: “a city whose name’s so nice, you got to say it twice.” In addition to being the chief justice, Mogoeng is a pastor, and he made a most extraordinary statement about the coronavirus.
