In fact, I lie, those were hybridised mobile iterations of stereos, walkie-talkies and telephones, and the only ingenuity was that they were wireless. Folks, you might probably know that at the time, the novel thrill of talking over wireless phones tempered the awkwardness of having to press the unwieldly “brick” against one’s ear.
