On a recent Tuesday, in the middle of science class at Irvine High, a student interrupted an otherwise normal lesson by shouting a triumphant profanity. “Holy (expletive),” the kid said. He had received a text message from his dad that made him leap from his desk and jump around the classroom in celebration.
