S IR – Having seen the aftermath of an accident on the smart M4, I agree they can be dangerous. But, as your coverage confirms, the dangers seem to come largely from the lunatics holding the steering wheels, and are not intrinsic to the smart motorways themselves. A red X above a motorway lane has meant stop for as long as I can remember.
