LANSING – Seventy-five years ago this month, a car driven by state Sen. Warren G. Hooper, was forced from the road south of Eaton Rapids by another car. The Albion Republican was shot three times in the head in a gangland-style execution. The Jan. 11, 1945, assassination along a cold, lonely stretch of M-99 remains unsolved to this day.
