One of the pioneering figures in the history of both Memphis rock and roll and soul, Bettye Berger, has died. A disc jockey on all-female radio station WHER, a powerful booking agent, artist manager and songwriter, Berger was a unique and vibrant force in the male-dominated music industry of the 1950s and 1960s.
