For more than a decade, David Hobson has been regular performer in Melbourne’s Carols by Candlelight, but last Christmas Eve he had to regretfully decline. The tenor did have rather a good excuse — after being in excruciating pain from an infection, he’d had emergency surgery to remove his gall bladder.
