So two months later, on Feb. 7, 2019, Garivey swore in Abigail, 7, as an honorary Freeport police officer. She got a uniform and a badge number, 758, and her story captivated the country, leading as many as 20 other agencies to give her the same honor, including the Texas Rangers and the Secret Service.
