The young, red-headed man who stepped ashore from the Royal Mail Steamer Dunnottar Castle at Cape Town in South Africa came prepared. Not only did he have his own personal valet, he had also brought an impressive liquor cabinet that included 18 bottles of scotch, some champagne, port, red wine and vermouth.
