The composer Jürg Frey, one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music, has spent almost his entire life in the vicinity of the Swiss town of Aarau, about thirty miles west of Zurich. Until a few years ago, he had a day job teaching clarinet to children at the Aarau Music School.
