A Leicestershire village will next week commemorate the crew of a US bomber which crashed and exploded killing all on board 75 years ago. The B-17G Flying Fortress of the 490th Bomb Group based at Eye, Suffolk, was fully loaded with bombs and ammunition when it ran into trouble over Nailstone, near Coalville, on September 27, 1944.
