It has been revealed Mr Cameron asked her to "raise an eyebrow" at the idea of Scottish independence - a request to involve the Queen in politics, a major taboo. He also revealed she had "purred" down the phone when he informed her Scotland had voted to remain in the United Kingdom, again a breach of royal protocol.
