If you’ve lived in the Flint area long enough, the jingle is burned into your memory. “When we were growing up people would sing that to me,” laughed Amanda Rutledge, one of James Henry Applegate’s two daughters. Applegate received permission from General Motors to use the jingle and insert the family name in exchange of apple pie.
