Karina Canellakis made quite a splash during her 2014-16 tenure as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's assistant conductor. Unflappably authoritative when she twice had to step in as a last-minute replacement for former music director Jaap van Zweden , she was also skilled and insightful in conducting her own programs.
