In the 1960s, Mardi Gras Indians were largely unknown outside working-class African-American neighborhoods and bars. A teenager and budding New Orleans music enthusiast named Quint Davis was one of the few white people who attended the White Eagles' practices at Barrows and Sons Lounge downtown.
