The bank re-possessed our the little board and batten house on south H Street and rented it back to us for $5 a month. However, President Roosevelt’s “workfare program” came at just the right time. Dad got a job with the WPA (Works Progress Administration) in the summer of 1936 and was earning $48 a month.
