Australian journalist Peter Greste has clocked up a year in an Egyptian prison. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop had been mildly optimistic Greste might be released ahead of his January 1 appeal. But the prospects of a pardon or clemency before his appeal later this week appear unlikely.
