Key Information. Air Asia flight QZ8501 was travelling from Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore. There were 162 people on board - 155 passengers and seven crew members. Flight lost contact with aviation authorities 42 minutes after takeoff while cruising in Indonesian airspace. All times are in GMT.
