"We wanted Music From Big Pink Kirk Montgomery to sound like nothing anyone else was doing. This was our music, honed in isolation from the radio and contemporary trends." -- Levon Helm, in his 1993 memoir This Wheel's on Fire. Nostalgia isn't our best look. It's a soothing lie we tell ourselves.
